Frequently-asked questions:

What does this data set describe?

Title:
Digital Orthoimage of the 30 x 30 Minute Tile N41W1112, Idaho Generated from SPOT Satellite Imagery

Abstract:
The USA Select product is a statewide panchromatic tonal balanced, 30-minute x 30-minute SPOTView product designed to be load-n-go into GIS and image processing systems. The source imagery is SPOT PAN 10-meter data. The most current imagery was preferred. Fall/Winter/Spring (leaf-off) scenes were preferred, but summer (leaf-on) imagery was used if scene gaps were present.

The Idaho Department of Adminstration coordinated the purchase of these data among numerous entities in Idaho in 2001.

Planar coordinates are encoded using row and column.
Abscissae (x-coordinates) are specified to the nearest 10.000000.
Ordinates (y-coordinates) are specified to the nearest 10.000000.
Planar coordinates are specified in meters.

The horizontal datum used is North American Datum of 1983.
The ellipsoid used is Geodetic Reference System 80.
The semi-major axis of the ellipsoid used is 6378137.000000.
The flattening of the ellipsoid used is 1/298.257222.

  7. How does the data set describe geographic features?

    Entity and attribute overview:
Each pixel contains an 8-bit gray-scale value between 0 and 255. A value of 0 represents the color black, while a value of 255 represents the color white. All values between 0 and 255 are represented as a shade of gray, varying from black to white.
